Manchester United vs Stoke City Player Ratings

After a brilliant display from our big money players, we beat Stoke City convincingly at Old Trafford. Goals from Martial, Valencia and Lukaku, with two Pogba assists were enough to ensure three bags and maintain our place on second, right behind leaders Manchester City. Let's jump straight into the player ratings.

David De Gea - 8/10
He was called upon only a few times during the game but made some crucial saves. Taking the game to half time without conceding was key and De Gea's saves ensured that. Regular stuff.

Antonio Valencia - 9/10
He scored an absolute better of a goal with his weaker left foot to open the scoring. Didn't have to do much defensively and ended up with a clean sheet.

Chris Smalling - 7/10
The Englishman isn't the best defender but kept Peter Crouch quiet during the game. Didn't contribute to anything else though.

Phil Jones - 7.5/10
Again, didn't have to do much but unlike his partner at centre back, Jones moved forward and tried to create play occasionally.

Luke Shaw - 8/10
Shaw has come a long way since he had a double leg break injury. The best part of the whole thing is that now left back doesn't seem to be a problem anymore.

Nemanja Matic - 7.5/10
He had the job to put up with their playmaker, Joe Allen and he did that perfectly. This wasn't the toughest challenge he has faced though.

Paul Pogba - 9.5/10
The man of the match by a mile, he gave two assists to decide the game. Pogba was absolutely amazing and now people can see why we paid £89m for him. Anyway, he has as many assists as 'greatest-player-of-all-time' De Bruyne in 10 less games.

Juan Mata - 7/10
Lingard created two easy chances for him but he scuffed both the shots. He seemed good in midfield but lacked cutting edge. He did however go down in the penalty area but went back to the referee and mentioned that he slipped. What a great guy.

Jesse Lingard - 7/10
One of the less intimidating players, he was a shadow of the man who ruled through December. Despite being in an amazing run of form, I expect him to drop out when we do eventually sign Alexis Sanchez.

Anthony Martial - 9/10
One of the best players on the pitch, Martial chalked up a goal and an assist. His finishing has become very mature and sharp since last season and which was evident from his sweet goal that made it 2-0.

Romelu Lukaku - 9/10
A spectacular display from the vastly, unnecessarily criticized Belgian saw a lot of critics shut up. He fell back and tried to create play. His deserved goal was a result of some beautiful footwork. Hopefully he there's more of this to come from him.

Maroune Fellaini - 6/10
Fellaini made a return to first team football and played the last ten minutes of the game. But the game was pretty much done and dusted by the time he came on.

Marcus Rashford - 6/10
Rashford had a couple of good runs but again, his lack of passing awareness let him down. He really needs to work on that aspect of his game. If not, his starts will really get affected by Sanchez's arrival.

Scott McTominay - N/A
Did not contribute to anything and the game was effectively over by then.

Man of the Match: Paul Pogba
