Manchester United vs Sevilla Player Ratings

This is going to be as scathing. After back to back wins against Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Liverpool with seven goals scored by the Red Devils, a match against a leaky Sevilla side should have been easy picking. The lackluster performance from the players practically handed the game to Sevilla who created chance after chance and easily could have scored before the second half. The BT Sport commentators got it bang on when they said that it looked like Manchester United were playing to go behind and be inspired to win.
Now the FA Cup must save our season, when did we become so much like Arsenal?

PLAYER RATINGS:
DAVID DE GEA 6/10
Really not much he could have done about the first goal and did all he could for the second but the corner was defended so shoddily he had no chance really.

ANTONIO VALENCIA 4/10
Offered very little and defended poorly. I have been a fan of his this season but he isn't getting any younger and Mourinho should be thinking of easing Fosu-Mensah into the starting XI for next season

ERIC BAILLY 6/10
Was the best of a bad bunch. Good to see him back as he will be vital in the games to come.

CHRIS SMALLING 3/10
Poor, poor, poor. While he had great performances of late in the Premier League, he was shambolic today. Would like to see Lindelof and Bailly together but genuinely miss Phil Jones as he combined well with Eric Bailly at the start of the season.

ASHLEY YOUNG 3/10
One of the many responsible for the second goal and did not play well today. Have been screaming for him to be dropped from the lineup and Luke Shaw to be given a run. This has to happen now as the 32 year old was turned in and out today.

MAROUANE FELLAINI 2/10
Sure he can hold up play but he did not offer much. He had the best chance to open the scoring but hit the ball at a comfortable height for Sergio Rico and squandered it. Glad he was substituted but should have been sooner.

Manchester United fell 2-1 to Sevilla at Old Trafford to crash out of the Champions League last 16NEMANJA MATIC 5/10
Sideways passing from the Serbian for the majority but did try and switch the play every now and then to be fair.

JESSE LINGARD 5/10
Tried his hardest and was energetic but did not really work for him. Has been an influential player this season, just not his game.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ 2/10
He goes so deep to retrieve the ball that there is no space for anyone else to play and work. He wants to be the star player of the team and have the ball at all times but he should just work on scoring and creating chances.

MARCUS RASHFORD 7.5/10
He was the best player for Manchester United and showed it by actually creating good chances. Created the goal for Lukaku with a whipped corner and United's first effort on target with a long range freekick. Should be starting over Sanchez now as the Chilean is not in form and needs to up his game to stay in the starting team.

Romelu Lukaku vies with Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet
ROMELU LUKAKU 7/10
Held up play well and tried his hardest to link up with his lacklustre squad (Rashford being the only other exception) and did get the goal to try and get United back into the game but too little too late.

SUBS
PAUL POGBA 5/10
Poor as well, looks shot of confidence. Needs to get back to his best and fast.

JUAN MATA N/A
Should have been starting as he was crucial for the Liverpool game. Knits the team together well and has to start against Brighton on Saturday. Did not affect the game but should have.

ANTHONY MARTIAL N/A
Coming back from injury can be the only reason why the Frenchman was not starting and should do so on Saturday with Mata. Did not have much time but should have affected the game in any way.
