Manchester United vs Bayern Munich Player Ratings

It wasn't the performance we were hoping for 6 days prior to the Premier League kicking off at Old Trafford. Manchester United put in a very lackluster display as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to the hands of the German champions.

Manchester United lined up with a 4-3-3 formation with Rashford down the middle, hoping to make the most of his pace. Unfortunately, this failed to work as we did not create one real chance going forwards. Bayern dominated throughout the entire game and deservedly won the game.

Hopefully the players will put in a much better, free-flowing performance in the game which matters - Leicester City on Friday.

Now onto the player ratings...

David De Gea - 6
Not too much the Spaniard could do about the goal. Put in a good performance otherwise and looked dominant.

Matteo Darmian - 5
Not too sure why he still plays for Manchester United if I am honest. Although he is not a bad player, he is average, and average is not good enough for United.

Eric Bailly - 7
A brilliant performance from the Ivorian. Unfortunate to see him come off injured but he looked fit prior to that. Hopefully he will be ready for selection for Friday's game. He is a guaranteed starter when he is fit.

Victor Lindelof - 7
It feels like it was the first time we saw this partnership in CB and it looked very good. After this display, we could see both players retain their place in the starting XI against Leicester.

Luke Shaw - 5
He was always going to have a tough time against Robben but he was turned inside out this game. His recent comments regarding his ambitions have been admiring but he needs to put in the performances to back this up.

Andreas Pereira - 6
He has been the shining star in our pre-season but fell out of the limelight a little bit in this game. He seemed a little sloppier in possession and failed to make passes to spark the attack.

Ander Herrera - 5
Similar to Pereira really. Failed to influence the game at all and was sloppy in the middle of the park.

Fred - 6
His intent to prove himself was visible but things just weren't working out for him. It was a difficult day for our midfielders.

Juan Mata - 5
His lack of pace was evident and he just failed to influence our attack in any way. I genuinely forgot he was playing for a lot of the game.

Marcus Rashford - 6
Our new number 10! He probably also deserves a 5 like Mata but can't fault him for his effort. All of the hoofed balls up top were just asking too much of the Englishman. He was receiving no real service.

Alexis Sanchez - 5
It was good to see Sanchez captain United. Unfortunately, he failed to make any impact on the pitch. In all fairness to our three attackers, they were not helped at all by the rest of the players.
