OPINION: How will we fare in this difficult fixture period of February? - Predictions

The month of February is set to be the biggest test yet for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester United currently sit 5th in the Premier League and have progressed to the next stages of both the FA Cup and Champions League. This month, Manchester United will be playing matches in each competition.

Fixtures:

  • Fulham (A): Premier League
  • PSG (H): Champions League
  • Chelsea (A): FA Cup
  • Liverpool (H): Premier League
  • Crystal Palace (A): Premier League
Here, a few of our writers will be presenting their opinions on how we will fare in these fixtures.

Suraj

So finally the real test begins. This month can make or break our season. Here's my predictions for the next five fixtures!

Fulham (A) Premier League: 3-1 United
We beat them 4-1 when times were tough. I think United should win this game rather comfortably. If we don't, our month will just get tougher!

PSG (H) Champions League: 2-1 United
I believe we have what it takes to beat PSG and we will. However, we still concede an away goal scored by a defensive mistake of course.

Chelsea (A) FA Cup: 1-0 United
Chelsea are very unpredictable this season and Stamford Bridge is an extremely difficult place to go to. However, I see us nicking a cheeky win to sweep London for the third time this season.

Liverpool (H) Premier League: 2-2 draw
Liverpool are second on the table behind City, with a game in hand. However, that game in hand is an away trip to Old Trafford. I want us to absolutely thrash them and shatter their title dreams but after tough games against PSG and Chelsea, I wouldn't even mind a draw. Even a draw can be a major setback to their title hopes.

Crystal Palace (A) Premier League: 2-1 United
This game could be very tricky as Palace are notorious for taking points off of the top 6 teams. We'll have to be cautious because they possess some serious threat on the flanks. But I feel we'll still win the game.

So that was my prediction, albeit a very optimistic one, for the next 5 games. Either way, these are massive fixtures and Manchester United are a team built on playing these games. So hoping for a great month of football!

Arjun

Fulham (A): 1 - 4
Fulham under Ranieri may score goals but the defence is not much better, should be a simple one.

PSG (H): 3 - 0
If Neymar was fit it would be different but he’s not and their strongest PSG side lost to Lyon last Sunday, don’t fancy PSG ever in the UCL.

Chelsea (A): 1 - 3
It’s alright to say Chelsea did well against Huddersfield but they’re bottom of the table! They still got hammered by Bournemouth even with Higuain who Lindelof should have in his back pocket.

Liverpool (H): 2 - 1 Since Alexander Arnold and Lovren have been injured, Liverpool have struggled and lost points in the title race. They were lucky against West Ham with their offside goal no matter what Klopp tries to say about the rest of the game and United need to have the same mentality as West Ham did but with a more killer instinct.

Crystal Palace (A): 1 - 2
If United don’t take this game seriously then this could be a difficult one. Less clear cut than any of the other games really, Palace are a danger team as one game they’re losing poorly and the next they beat spurs in the FA cup.

Christian

Fulham (A): 1 - 2
Fulham fighting for survival and United who probably won’t be starting with their best XI. Tight game.

PSG (H): 1 - 0
Neymar and possibly Veratti missing, home advantage, all of our best players available. Think we’ll snatch it.

Chelsea (A): 0 - 1
Chelsea not looking great and if we continue our form, I think we’ll be able to snatch it here as well.

Liverpool (H): 0 - 1
Tight game, but I think Liverpool will edge it (unfortunately).

Crystal Palace (A): 0 - 2
We will manage to bounce back and convincingly win this one.

Tiko

Fulham 0-3 MUFC
It won’t be surprising if Ole rests some key players ahead of the big match against PSG, but I think they’ll still be able to get the 3 points

MUFC 2-1 PSG
The big game, United will be going all out and taking advantage of Neymar’s absence, and I think they’ll manage a home victory in the Round of 16.

Chelsea 2-2 MUFC
Another tough match, this time in the FA Cup. United will be looking to get revenge after what happened last time out at Stamford Bridge, but I think they’ll only manage a draw and require a replay at Old Trafford

MUFC 2-1 Liverpool
This was Mourinho‘s last match before he was sacked, and Ole will make a point in why he should get the job with a victory over now league leaders, Liverpool

Crystal Palace 0-0 MUFC
Potentially the most controversial prediction of mine, but I think this match will end in a goalless draw.

So, that concludes our predictions. Arjun seems the most optimistic, expecting 5 wins! Christian and Suraj believe we can get 4, while Tiko is trying not to get too ahead of himself with 3. No matter what happens, we can guarantee some exciting football and some big results! We are very much looking forward to these matches! Let us know some of your predictions!
