Who will play on the right for Man Utd against Liverpool?

As Manchester United prepare for their toughest match of the season thus far against arch rivals and run away Premier League leaders Liverpool. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching staff will need to ensure  the Red Devils are ready to face the challenge of playing against a team gifted with the  attacking minded skills of Salah, Mane, Firmino and get past the likes of Van Dijk, Robertson and Alexander Arnold.  On paper it appears the Red Devils have an uphill battle and they will need to fight for the entire match against a team who seem simply unstoppable in the Premier League. However one thing is for certain you can never predict the outcome of the result when these two teams play against each other and as a result any  outcome is possible.

Solskjaer has indicated that two star players  David de Gea and  Paul Pogba have been ruled out due to injury concerns and will not make the matchday squad for the crucial encounter.  Martial has been out of action since August and has missed eight games in total but is in contention to feature in Sunday’s heavyweight clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Rashford has not been in any type of form of late and a positional and tactical change may be required for him to return to his prolific form. The options open to Solskjaer include going with three centre backs Maguire , Lindelöf and Tuanzebe with Young and a fit Wan-Bisaaka on the wings. The midfield would probably consist of McTominay and either Fred or Matic as well as James. With Martial and Rashford up front, this would be my ideal start squad a change in formation into 3-5-2 formation and possibly a surprise set up to face Liverpool. Would Solskjaer be willing to gamble with James Garner as a possible right winger option. But to risk throwing an inexperienced player into the full intensity of the battle at Old Trafford seems highly unlikely.

The safest and most likely option will be Wan-Bissaka to play the right wing role. Sunday's game will be exciting explosive and never a dull moment.

Manchester United, who were written off against Liverpool produced a performance which proved that they are an actual team with passion, drive and ability . Something which was lacking since we beat Chelsea.
It remains to be seen if we can carry this kind of performance on to other teams, most especially those that set up a deep block. A perfect time is on Thursday when we face Partizan in Serbia in which victory will take United top of Group L. However, United's prospects are not helped by the fact that Partizan sit fifth in the Serbian SuperLiga and have an impressive record at home this season. Since Luke Shaw's arrival at Manchester United in 2014 it's fair to say he has had an inconsistent time. Over the course of six seasons of Premier League football Luke Shaw has only managed 75 appearances which shows just how little he has managed to get on the pitch and show what he's capable of. Considering United's current form versus that of their opponents, you would expect a draw to be something worth celebrating, however, Solskjær's men can legitimately feel hard done by as overall they were the better team on the day. The eleventh hour injury to Tuanzebe proved to be United's undoing, as replacement Rojo was caught napping in the dying minutes.

Manchester United’s U23 side gained more valuable experience on Friday night as they came up against French side Paris Saint-Germain in the Premier League International cup. The Red Devils came out comfortable winners, beating the French side 3-0 in what was a very cold and frosty night at the Leigh Sports Village.

Scott McTominay's career has been on a steady upwards trajectory ever since Jose Mourinho named the relatively unknown, gangly young midfielder as a substitute in a Premier League match against Swansea back in April 2017. After a disastrous start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, it is already clear that Manchester United's first team and squad lacks both top quality and depth. The biggest issue I see with the squad is the lack of great and world class players in the starting XI and the fact that players like Pereira, Lingard and Greenwood are being relied upon when they are simply not good enough or too inexperienced at this point in time. However, if we focus on 5/6 top tier starting XI signings and demote some of out current starters to squad players, I think we will find ourselves in a far better situation and our squad depth is not as big an issue as the lack of starting XI quality.
