The United Devils

Not the best performance by United but a win is a win and we will take it in whatever form it comes. There is no doubt we should have added to the early 1-0 lead but we done well to see it out and not concede. Just the result we needed to bounce back after Sunday. Anything else would have been disastrous for our morale.

The first half looked worrying at the beginning with Bournemouth looking the more dangerous team going forwards and our defence looking shaky. David De Gea came up with two good saves to deny Bournemouth the early lead. The deadlock was finally broken in the 25th minute when Romelu Lukaku climbed highest to head home a delightful cross from Juan Mata. There was no celebration from the Belgian after his goal but hopefully this will do his confidence a whole lot of good. Just before the break Fraser almost caught out De Gea at his near post but the Spaniard done well to save the shot. The first half finished 1-0 to United thanks to a powerful header from Lukaku. Two of our standout players this half were Martial and Shaw who looked like they were beginning to form a great partnership down that left flank.

The second half was started well by the Red Devils who looked certain to score another goal to give themselves a bit of a cushion. The best chance came to Anthony Martial in the 60th minute, and you won't believe what happened. Lukaku's shot was saved and the rebound came to Martial who missed an open goal from point blank range. After that chance, the game turned completely in Bournemouth's favour. They were dominating possession and United were on the back-foot for the rest of the game. Fortunately, we were able to see it out despite Bournemouth trying their hardest to get something from the game at the end.

Our two stand out players today were Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay. In the first half, Shaw looked dangerous going forwards and more like his old self tearing down that left wing. At the end of the first half and in the second half, he showed that he is also more than capable at defending, putting in some brilliant challenges. This is probably his best performance since his major injury. Now onto McTominay... This lad dominated the midfield today. At some points he was looking like a solid CDM, breaking play and winning the ball back for us. At other times he was looking like a creative midfielder, delivering some delightful crosses into the box and balls over Bournemouth's defence. It was great to watch these two players prosper today.

Our next match is on Sunday afternoon away to West Brom. This will be a tough game and the Baggies have proven today that they are a tough team to break down by denying Liverpool any goals against them. Let's hope our attack is on point and Lukaku is back firing again and we can take another much needed 3 points.
