Manchester United vs Derby County Player Ratings

A game that looked destined for an FA Cup replay with so many missed chances was saved by Jesse Lingard who scored another remarkable goal. Romelu Lukaku then sealed the win for the Red Devils with a brilliant counter attacking goal at the end.

Player Ratings:

Sergio Romero - 6
There wasn't too much to do for the Argentine today but he done well when called upon. The one criticism I have is that he did look shaky at times and he kept punching the ball out when he had the time and space to catch it.

Victor Lindelof - 6
Again he was called upon to put in a shift in a position which isn't his favourite but he done well. He was solid defensively and did look dangerous going forwards. He put in a few good crosses.

Chris Smalling - 7
On his return to the starting 11, he looked back at his best. He made some key interceptions and stood his ground with some brilliant tackles. Very good to see!

Daley Blind - 6
He looked comfortable on the ball and make no mistakes at the back. He is continuing his run of starting in every cup game this season (domestic and Europe).

Luke Shaw - 7
It is so good to see Shaw back in the team and performing so well! Today was another faultless performance and he continued tearing down that left flank. Could argue that his crosses need improving.

Ander Herrera - 6
This was one of his better performances this season. He broke up play well and rarely misplaced a pass.

Paul Pogba - 6
Whenever he is on the ball he looks dangerous, and that was the case again today. He had a great free kick denied, but other than that, he found it hard today to create chances.

Jesse Lingard - 8
He was the best player on the pitch for sure today. He was always looking for the ball and his control and dribbling was outstanding. You could tell he was playing with such confidence and he capped off a great performance with another beautiful goal.

Juan Mata - 7
A constant threat to Carson's goal, he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 3
He was substituted at half time and rightly so. He was poor and failed to influence the game. Surely Jose can't give him another chance!

Marcus Rashford - 5
He kept losing possession needlessly and should have scored. Despite hitting the post twice, you could tell he was a player that was lacking confidence and experiencing a goal drought.

Subs:
Romelu Lukaku - 7
He was brilliant on his return from injury and done well to score. He was a constant threat in the second half.

Anthony Martial - 7
Didn't make too much of an influence but a moment of class at the end with Lukaku added an assist to his name.

Marouane Fellaini - N/A
Didn't have enough time to make an impact but it's good to see the big Belgium back playing for us.

Man of the Match: Jesse Lingard
