Sevilla vs Manchester United Preview

This is the 'big week' for Manchester United and it begins with a trip to Spain on Wednesday with the Champions League Round of 16 fixture against Sevilla. United have never competitively played the Spanish side (although the Red Devils have faced Sevilla twice in pre-season friendlies) and will be hoping to begin with a good away win to continue the good run for English teams in the Champions League with both Manchester City and Liverpool coming away with conclusive victories away from home (0-4 and 0-5 respectively).

Eric Bailly is also a potential starter after making a small feature in the FA Cup and will be a crucial player in the matches to come. However it seems that Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera are still sidelined with injuries and will certainly pave way for Anthony Martial and/or Jesse Lingard to start and hopefully return to the form that they begun the new year with.

Romelu Lukaku is one of few players that are certain to retain their position after a substantial brace on Sunday to take his tally to 21 goals this season and will hope to continue his goalscoring form into the Champions League fixture. The question of Alexis Sanchez is a tricky one as the Chilean seems to be affecting the other players in a negative way in which Pogba has retreated to a more withdrawn position and Martial has been forced on the right wing and so it is a wonder whether Jose may chose to leave out his no.7 and rest him for the big match on Sunday against Chelsea.

What is more enticing for Manchester United fans is that although Sevilla are fifth in La Liga behind only Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Real Madrid, they have a negative goal difference and could be liable at the back for conceding a fair few goals. Either way this is a crucial game for United's season and could be a turning point for a difficult week ahead.

Predicted Lineup: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Young, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Martial, Lingard, Lukaku
