Manchester United Vs Bournemouth Player Ratings

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken Manchester United and the Premier League by storm since being announced as the caretaker manager for the rest of the season. Solskjaer has become only the third person in Man Utd history to win their first three games after a short line of Sir Matt Busby and Jose Mourhino. Wins over Cardiff, Huddersfield and now Bournemouth make it nine out of nine points since arriving after Mourhino was sacked. Paul 'No longer the virus' Pogba opened the score-sheet in the 5th minute after Marcus Rashford gave him an assist, absolutely destroying the Bournemouth's defense with wonderful skill. It was almost a perfect night for Pogba as he very nearly completed a hat-trick but it was just not meant to be tonight.

It was a good and entertaining display from the boys in Red tonight though as United could be in a potential race for Top 4.

Now we get into my Manchester United Player Ratings as we see who stood tall and who had a bit of a rough night.


Manchester United Player Ratings.
David De Gea: 6
De Gea had very little to do tonight but was a bit frustrating not to see him keep a clean sheet, unfortunately. 

Ashley Young: 7
Young was fun to watch as he kept getting forward and at one point looked like he was a CF but also did make some clumsy tackles at times, decent display on the set pieces but overall I thought he was good tonight.

Luke Shaw: 6.5
Shaw was great when it came to blocks and clearances but did have a bit of trouble when attacking forward as he didn't put in very many crosses as he usually does, but his defensive duties were fine.

Eric Bailly: 5
I thought Bailly was fine for the most part as he covered Lindelof well but that silly and unnecessary tackle is what had him sent off,  and will probably keep him out of the squad for a while now.

Victor Lindelof: 8.5
The Iceman continues his very good form and is showing why he was highly rated when arriving to Manchester, Lindelof hardly put a foot wrong and had a passing percentage of 94%, 2 interceptions and kept Wilson & King quiet throughout the game.

Paul Pogba: 9.5
Pogba had two goals and an assist against Bournemouth and was the Man Of The Match and rightly so, he was almost perfect as he almost had himself a hat-trick. Four goals and Three Assist under Ole Solskaer.

Andre Herrera: 7
Herrera had himself an Assist tonight as well and is truly underrated. He was booked for pulling a jersey when Bournemouth were on a counter. Also covered the ball well.

Nemanja Matic: 7
Another player who has improved under Ole Solskjaer, made long range passes and looked very sharp and comfortable in midfield.

Marcus Rashford: 9
Rashford has been on fire and is very exciting to watch. His Assist to Pogba was absolutely beautiful as he may have sent Ake and the other defenders to retirement and also banged himself a goal as well.

Jesse Lingard: 6
Lingard's movement was great but made little impact against Bournemouth.

Anthony Martial: 7
Martial made a lovely cross to Rashford from his outside foot but didn't see much of the ball.

Subs: 

 Lukaku: 7
Lukaku came back with a goal which was United's 4th of the game. Great to seem him back amongst the goals.

Manchester United currently have three left-backs in the first team squad, which on the surface appears to be more than enough. With a full squad overhaul in progress and a transfer window looming you would be forgiven for thinking that the gaffer's targets are more likely to ply their trade in other areas of the field, however, if you take a closer look at the current options it becomes clear that if a top class alternative is available he should definitely be considered.

So, where do we start with this one?

To say this game was a kick in the teeth would be an understatement. After a decent run of results we had all hoped that the Everton performance was an aberration from which United would bounce back, stronger and more determined. All of that hope evaporated on a cold afternoon in Watford, officially the worst team in the Premier League, who before the match had just nine points from 17 games, a goal difference of -23 and a revolving door of barely adequate managers.

Given the lack of creativity on display the previous week it was brave of Solskjær to stick with the same starting eleven, particularly in light of of Mason Greenwood's recent performances. Manchester United have beaten Newcastle United 4-1 at Old Trafford with goals coming from Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford. After an embarrassing performance against Watford a few days ago, United have bounced back with a strong commanding win on Boxing Day. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lined the team up in a 4-2-3-1 with the usual backline of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw playing in front of David De Gea. In midfield, Fred and McTominay played in a double pivot with Paul Pogba only fit enough to start on the bench. Marcus Rashford, Andreas Pereira, and Mason Greenwood started in attacking midfield and Anthony Martial spearheaded our frontline.

Manchester United progressed to the Semi Finals of the Carabao Cup last night 18th of December 2019 at Old Trafford with a comfortable 3-0 victory over their less fancied opponents Colchester United who are currently in League Two. Colchester had already proven to be giant killers and had defeated both Premiership teams Spurs and Crystal Palace in previous ties in the competition on penalties to advance to this Quarterfinal tie. Perhaps the side that Solskjaer decided to start against the minnows indicated the respect shown to Colchester as the Red Devils had 7 changes to the team from Sunday who played against Everton in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. Unlucky to be honest but they could not stop Liverpool's red tide. They created enough chances to win the game but failed to take their chances. United next and they'll fancy their chances against the Premier League's Robin Hood.

The games are coming thick and fast for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his young Manchester United side as the festive period of fixtures ramps up. The Reds are half way into a stretch of four games in the space of ten days, and the always tricky Burnley side await next at Turf Moor on Saturday.

United have seemingly entered another slippery patch in the Premier League as of late following the two outstanding victories over Tottenham and Manchester City earlier this month. The Reds dropped five points in their last two fixtures with a loss to bottom of the league Watford and a stalemate draw against Everton.
