Manchester United Vs Brighton Player Ratings

Yet another game that we went in to with high spirits. Thanks to the arrival of Ole Gunnar, winning is slowly becoming the new normal at Manchester United.

The game ended in another victory for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Paul Pogba scoring from the spot kick and Marcus Rashford scoring an absolute beauty.

It was a game that kept us on our toes especially after the Brighton equalizer.
Below, on a scale of 1-10, I have analysed how I think the players performed on the pitch.

David de Gea- 7
The United Number one was pretty much solid through the entire game. He had no chance with Pascal Gross's close-range finish and couldn't be faulted for it. There were also two scary moments late on in the game.

Ashley Young- 7
Our Captain for the day also didn't have a bad game. In the first half, I felt he didn't offer very much going forward. However in the second half, he offered the much needed width at a time where we were too congested in the centre.

Victor Lindelof- 8
Our Ice Man. Don't you just love this guy? I was really impressed with him especially that time when he almost claimed an assist with a well taken ball for Anthony Martial. As usual, he was defensively solid and great on the ball coming forward.

Phil Jones- 6
He is arguably one of the reasons United has been very poor at defense this season. He survived an early defensive error with Glenn Murray but also failed to clear the cross which led to Gross's strike.

Diogo Dalot- 7
I felt he was being played out of position given the impact he has had on the right hand side of the field so far. He was a late call-up at left-back after Luke Shaw withdrew from the squad. He beautifully assisted Marcus Rashford but yet again was caught out for Gross' goal.

Nemanja Matic- 7
Our most consistent DM player had a good game today. He played a key role in the opener by providing the cross for Paul Pogba that eventually led to the goal. He has also improved his forward-thinking with the ball and aware of his positioning.

Ander Herrera- 8
My choice for the Captain's arm band, Herrera has proven to be a leader on the pitch. He blended well with the attack and was very vigilant in falling back.

Paul Pogba- 8
Once again proved to be the world class player he always has been. He won the penalty and scored it ensuring he continues in his resurgent form.

Jesse Lingard- 7
Once regarded as the United Messi. I still love his touch, movement, awareness and passing. He also isn't afraid to take on many opponents with a solo effort. Supplemented the attack well and was unlucky not to have a goal.

Anthony Martial- 6
A great dribbler as usual. There were some eye catching moments but it was a rather quiet display.

Marcus Rashford- 9
My man of the match. Made his 150th appearance and played just like the Rashford we always knew him for. Scored a beauty and had a generally great game. It is going to be hard for Lukaku to break into this team at this rate.

Subs
There were three substitutes in the game whose impact wasn't felt well. We had a Mourinho type of second half. I will give them a joint rating of 5. (Just average)

With the above ratings. I think Bailly has a chance to get back into the team in place of Jones. Sanchez has a chance to replace either Lingard or Martial. Fingers crossed as we look to the changes Ole Gunner is likely to make in the subsequent games.
