Arsenal vs Manchester United Player Ratings

Sergio Romero - 7.0
Ever dependable as United’s number 2. He made a couple of key saves, including a great save from a Ramsey header early in the second half.

Ashley Young - 7.0
Ashley played in a solid back four performance. He was able to stifle a lot of Arsenal attacks on the edge of his own area by reading the game well.

Victor Lindelof - 6.5
Formed a decent partnership for Eric Bailly at centre back and dealt with limited balls in to the box. Was not able to intercept the ball across the box that lead to Arsenal’s goal despite getting his foot to the ball.

Eric Bailly - 6.5
Like Lindelof, Bailly had a solid game at centre back. At times he looked unsettled in possession, needs to find a calmness to his play and gain confidence through playing more games.

Luke Shaw - 6.5
Got up and down the left wing for 90 minutes. Defended well. Looked like he is still carrying some fitness issues, didn’t seem like he was at 100% throughout the game.

Nemanja Matic - 7.0
Another improved performance from the Serbian offering great protection to the defence on the edge of the area but in a much more positive way.

Ander Herrera - 7.0
Put in his usual energetic, professional performance. He’s really established himself in Ole’s midfield and rightly so after some consistent performances.

Paul Pogba - 8.0
After a quiet first half. Paul took control of the midfield in the second half and was the instigator of United’s attacks with his shot leading to the third goal.

Romelu Lukaku - 8.5
A few raised eyebrows when Rom lined up on the right but Solskjaer yet again pulled off another tactical masterclass putting him there. The Belgian provided the assists for the first two goals and put in a man of the match performance.

Jesse Lingard - 8.0
Made intelligent, threatening runs when United were on the counter and produced a cool and clinical finish for the second goal.

Sanchez 7.5
The Chilean took his goal superbly but did not have much of an impact on the rest of the game. Let’s hope a goal against his former club can be the catalyst for his United career.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford - 6.5
Gave United an injection of pace at the end of the game up against Arsenal’s weary defence but had little impact on the game.

Anthony Martial - 7.0
Was in the right place at the right time to put in the rebound for United’s third goal and seal the game. Sometimes a little sloppy in possession and didn’t get up to the speed of the game after coming on.

Jones - 6.0
Came on for the last two minutes. No impact on the game.
