Player ratings vs West Ham United

David De Gea - 6.5
A mixed day for Dave, he will be disappointed to not have saved West Ham’s equaliser, as well as giving the ball away on occasions prior to the goal. However he made some good stops, including a world class save to prevent The Hammers going 2-1 up.

Diogo Dalot - 6.5
Back in his preferred position at right-back. He was getting forward at every opportunity and getting balls into the box. In the second half, he contributed to a nervy defensive effort from the team with some poor distribution and rash clearances.

Phil Jones - 6.0
A typically brave performance from the Englishman but could not gain any control of United’s defence when required.

Chris Smalling - 6.0
Like Jones, Smalling wasn’t able to organise a shaky United defence. However he was on hand to make some important interceptions.

Marcus Rojo - 4.5
In fairness to Marcus, he’s just not a left-back. This was a real rusty performance having missed much of this season. His positional sense was very poor and offers the team very little in the attacking third.

Fred - 7.0
The Brazilian midfielder kept up his good run of performances recently. He brings an energy to United’s midfield and looks to get the team moving forward. He can sometimes look a little light weight on the ball, so, much will need to be done on his strength and conditioning in the summer.

Paul Pogba - 7.5
It was pleasing to see Pogba take the two all important penalties in an orthodox way which gave his team all 3 points. Hardly a perfect performance, but he won the game for United and that is why he’s paid the big bucks.

Juan Mata - 5.5
An unusually poor performance from the little Spaniard. Had very little influence on the game and could not create anything. He was in the right place at the right time to win the first of United’s penalties, his only contribution in the game.

Anthony Martial - 6.0
United will be happy to have Martial available for selection again. They will hope to see better performances from the french winger in future though. Apart from his pacey break to win the second penalty his hesitation to shoot in that situation was worrying and he offered little else in the way of an attacking threat during the game.

Jesse Lingard - 6.0
Jesse has struggled since returning from recent injuries, he has not had an effect on any game since returning and this game was no exception. He was not able to get in to the game. He is a player Solskjær will be keen to select whenever possible, but only if he is firing on all cylinders.

Romelu Lukaku - 6.0
Like the rest of United’s attacking players the big Belgian did not play well enough. He made some willing runs in to the channels and down the flanks, but The Reds need a lot more from their No.9.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford - 6.0
Came on to replace Mata. Had a shot well saved by West Ham keeper, Fabianski. Failed to make much more of a contribution after that.

Andreas Pereira - N/A

Mason Greenwood - N/A
