Manchester United vs Leicester City: Player Ratings

Man Utd beat Leicester 1-0 in the Premier League fixture at Old Trafford thanks to a Marcus Rashford penalty early on. The Red Devils looked competent and composed throughout the game and while Leicester had the majority of the ball, they barely threatened. Here are the ratings for this game:

David de Gea: 7
Made some super saves like the De Gea he truly is. Glad to see him back.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 7
Fresh from a back injury, he kept James Maddison and Ben Chilwell quiet.

Victor Lindelof: 7
Almost made an error with James Maddison but was solid at the defence together with Harry.

Harry Maguire: 8
Defended well and kept Jamie Vady quiet. Behemoth winning all but one of his aerial duels.

Ashley Young: 7
Played decent for a 34 year old. Kept the blue side on his flank quiet and played a few good long balls to Dan James. Decent at set-pieces too.

Scott McTominay: 7
It's a pleasure to have a player with such passion play for us. Covered up for Paul Pogba pretty well.

Nemanja Matic: 5
You need to be a serious football analyst to get even a glimpse of what Matic brings into the team. Looks finished.

Andreas Pereira: 6
Average to say the least. Was good at tactically stopping play and his off ball movement was good. Involved in the build-up for the penalty and almost scored very early on with a good freekick.

Juan Mata: 5
Played in the 10 role and disappointed. Rarely touched the ball.

Daniel James: 6
Played his preferred role but was often over shadowed by the Leicester defenders. Had a few chances to score but failed to hit the target

Marcus Rashford: 7
Scored the penalty intelligently. Brilliant with his free kicks finally and truly unlucky not to score.

Subs
Fred: 7
Brought mobility into the midfield. Much better option than Matic so should start against Astana.

Tahith Chong: 6
Energetic and skillful.

Axel Tuanzebe N/A
Was not on the pitch for long but offered more stability to last the rest of the game.

Match Analysis -  Manchester United have beaten Norwich 4-0 at Old Trafford with goals coming from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. After poor results against Arsenal, Wolves, and Manchester City, this feels like a breath of fresh air, although we need to remember that Norwich are currently last in the table with 3 wins all season. The game was fairly one-sided with it mostly being played in Norwich's half. We went into the half-time a goal up, thanks to Rashford who was making his 200th appearance today. Juan Mata found himself in acres of space on the right-wing and played a pinpoint cross to find the Englishman at the far post who slotted it past Krul. In the second half, United scored two goals in two minutes. The first one was Rashford who converted a penalty won by Brandon Williams and the second was a simple header by Martial with Mata bagging his second assist of the day. Manchester United vs. Wolves Preview

An FA Cup replay was certainly the last thing on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wishlist as his Manchester United side took to the Molineux field for their third round tie against Wolves on Jan. 4. Unfortunately for the Reds, a heavily rotated side failed to find the winner in an evenly balanced 0-0 draw, and things will need to be settled at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

In what already was a jam packed January schedule, the depleted United squad will have to take on yet another 90 minutes of football minimum in quick succession — something that's far from ideal for a group of players as prone to picking up injuries as the Reds. But, with that said, the FA Cup suddenly appears as one of the likeliest potential sources of silverware for Wednesday's hosts after they lost the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final to Manchester City 1-3 last week. When it comes to a derby match between local rivals Manchester United and Manchester City it usually delivers a game filled with quality and often form and league positions count for very little. Last night the match at Old Trafford had very little quality from the Red Devils and in fact the game was pretty much over by half time with Man City completely dominating the tie with a 3-0 half time lead. The gap between the two squads as far as the depth and strength of personnel Man City have at their disposal as compared to the team the Red Devils fielded was clear for all to see. With fixtures piling up and squads being rotated in order to keep players fresh Man City rested both their frontmen Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero and it was a masterclass display from Bernado Silva which literally sealed the tie victory for Man City. Fred, our £50m midfielder, was one of just two players that we signed in that audacious transfer window that preceded one of our worst seasons. Fred came in along with Diogo Dalot in that summer owing to severe under-backing on the board's part. While upset and annoyed, we were still quite excited to see Fred and Dalot make it into the first team. On his debut against Leicester, Fred tried elaborate tricks and skills which is unusual for a new signing. As a new signing, you just try to settle down and play the easy passes. Needless to say, Fred's skills were far from impressive as he kept losing possession in our own half and invited needless pressure from Leicester. This review of Fred became a mainstay to his game and often received criticism for just under-performing in general. Saturday 4th January 2020, Wolverhampton Wanderers host Manchester United in the FA Cup third round at Molyneux in an intriguing encounter. Wolves have experienced mixed fortunes recently in the Premiership. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team head into this game on the back of just two wins in their last six games.
