The purchase of Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes in January is looking like a great bit of business for United, bringing some much-needed creativity and giving the whole team a boost, as results have improved significantly since his arrival. Fernandes is quickly becoming a fans' favourite and he joins a small list of Portuguese stars to pull on the famous red jersey. One of our previous heroes hailing from Portugal won't require any clues to remember; Cristiano Ronaldo has dominated world football since he first sprung onto the scene at Old Trafford. Some of the others might need a few hints, as their careers as United never really took off. Here are the others:

The FA Cup has once again given football lovers another fascinating match as Manchester United will be looking to stay on course for a record-equalling 13th FA Cuptriumph as they travel to Derby County for the fifth round on Thursday evening. Derby have an Old Trafford legend in their midst, Wayne Rooney and they eagerly waiting to spoil the party for a rejuvenated Man Utd. It be quite something if Rooney was to get his name on the score sheet against his former team. Rooney has scored a record 253 goals for United, will be facing his former side for the third time since ending his 13-year spell at Old Trafford in July 2017. Rooney record speaks for itself having won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League, the FA Cup and four League Cups and at 34 years old is still a goalscoring threat.

It shouldn't come as that much of a surprise at this point if you are a Manchester United fan and you hear that individual mistakes have cost them the three points. The latest case of that plague came back to haunt the Reds in their top four six pointer against Everton away at Goodison Park on Sunday. A game in which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men ended up hanging on to a 1-1 draw.

Once again, the Reds failed to pounce on the the team's above them dropping points. With a win, United could have been within a point off fourth and six points off third place in the league. But despite a pretty good first half showing, the players and fans were left with a bitter taste in their mouths following the full time whistle. United got off to the worst start possible against the Toffees as an absolute howler from David De Gea gifted the hosts the lead inside the opening three minutes.

After a disappointing draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, Manchester United travelled to Pride Park for the 5th Round of the FA Cup, hoping to maintain their eight game unbeaten run. The Red Devils qualified for the Quarter-Finals with a 0-3 win at Pride Park against Wayne Rooney's Derby County side and Solskjaer's side will now play their third FA Cup away match in a row with another trip to Carrow Road set to take place at the end of March.

Team Selection:
Derby County made four changes to the side that blew Sheffied Wednesday away with Hamer, Wisdom, Clarke and Martin swapped out for Roos, Evans, Lowe and Sibley as Cocu decided that the Ram's priorities lay in the Championship. Wayne Rooney started and captained Derby against his former club alongside Tom Lawrence who only made one appearance for the Red Devils under the current Wales manager, Ryan Giggs.

On Sunday, Manchester United travel to Goodison Park to face Everton. The game sees, a 5th placed United side take on a 11th placed Everton side, though the sides are only separated by 5 points.

Though the table says United are the favourites for the game, recent history is in favour of Everton. They have won four of their last seven Premier League home games against Manchester United, including a 4-0 victory last season, one of United's worse performances in recent history. Additionally, it has been 13 months since the Red Devils claimed back-to-back away victories in the top flight, meaning this will be a test for the Red Devils.

In terms of team news, Sergio Romero started in the Europa League win on Thursday night but David De Gea is expected to be recalled between the sticks on Sunday. Massive win for Norwich but remain six points from safety so need more of the same. Lovely strike from Jamaal Lewis who Premier League teams should look at if Norwich go down or even if they don't!

Their form has seriously dipped and this ought to have been a game they won. They have put themselves in danger of losing their Champions League places as they are eight points from Manchester United in fifth and Wolves in sixth and so a few poor performances could send them packing.

As we all know by now, Manchester United are coming off from a horrific defeat from Cabarabo cup fixture, as we know Manchester United were defeated by Derby County on penalties (2-2) 7-8 in the third round, and the player ratings are in following the defeat at Old Trafford.

Romero:5.5
I think giving Romero a 5.5 is a bit lucky for him, but before his red card he made some big “match saving” saves. And couldn’t do squat with Wilson’s freekick but admire it.

Young: 6.5
Looked threatening down the flanks, put in some crosses, decent performance.

Looked soild at the back despite not being featured in recent games.

Manchester United stormed into the round of 16 with a 5-0 win over Club Brugge last night. Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Fred and Odion Ighalo got on the scoresheet with assists coming from substitutes Tahith Chong and Jesse Lingard for the latter two goals. United have now been drawn with Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub (LASK) for the round of 16 ties to be held on the 12th and 19th of March. 
This article will take a look at which defensive pairings United should be using for the upcoming games as some really difficult and tricky games are in our path and squad rotation will become vital. With the return of Eric Bailly, we are better off than before but with good performances from the Ivorian, selection becomes tougher. We have games against Everton, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs coming up in the league along with FA Cup games and Europa League round of 16 games which makes this a decisive month.

The race for top four has tightened up even more and so has the relegation battle. With a five point gap between fourth and eighth and a four point gap between ninteenth and fifteenth, the eleven games left will be tense and full of drama with every team concerned knowing dropped points could send them spiralling down the table. Old Trafford has been home to Manchester United's since 1910, but in recent years the stadium has been neglected by the owners of the club making one of the most impressive and largest stadiums in the country in the last 20 years, into an out of date stadium which while still beloved by the fans of the club doesn't have the same draw that it used to from fans of the sport.

The stadium hasn't been left in complete disarray with Old Trafford undergoing several expansions in the 1990s, and 2000s, including the addition of extra tiers to the North, West and East Stands making the stadium's capacity 74,879, the largest capacity club ground in the UK.
