Manchester United take on Manchester City in the Premier League this Sunday in what is the fourth Manchester derby on the season. United won the first game at The Etihad with a 2-1 win and lost the second two on aggregate in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. This game is a must-win for us in regards to finishing in the top 4. At the time of writing, United were 7th with Wolves and Sheffield overtaking us and Arsenal only two points behind with a game in hand, although the game in hand is City away. Spurs are yet to play and might take all three points against Burnley, putting us in 8th.

United have a tough week with City, away game to LASK and a game away to Spurs coming up. A win against Everton last week would've eased up the pressure on these fixtures but it isn't like Manchester United to do it the easy way. United need to win both the derby and the Spurs game if we need to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Interesting Facts:
  • If Manchester United win at Old Trafford it will be the first time in a decade the Red Devils have done a double over their noisy neighbours
  • The last time Manchester United kept a Premier League clean sheet against Manchester City was in 2017 in a 0-0 draw at the Etihad
  • Manchester United have not won a Premier League game against Manchester City at home since a 4-2 win under Louis Van Gaal in 2015, losing the last three home league games on the bounce against the Cityzens
  • While Sergio Aguero has 8 goals in 11 games against Manchester United, Raheem Sterling is yet to score against the Red Devils ever
Team News:
There are no new injuries for United with Pogba stepping up his training. There was news that his targeted return was the derby game but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case. Axel Tuanzebe returned to the matchday squad against Derby County. Marcus Rashford is still injured and will probably be out for rest of the season. Wan-Bissaka and James may be doubts but late fitness tests will determine whether they feature.

Manchester City are without Aymeric Laporte who had to be taken off during their Champions League game against Real Madrid. Leroy Sane is back in full training but is yet to make a matchday appearance. Kevin De Bruyne was replaced against Sheffield United with muscular injury and may not feature but could easily be one of Pep's mindgames.

Starting Lineup:
With the Derby County game, we have some idea as to who will start on Sunday. Odion Ighalo started with Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial being on the bench. Nemanja Matic, Aaron Wan Bissaka, David De Gea, Brandon Williams all sat out the game as well. However, Luke Shaw had a man of the match performance against Derby bagging a goal and an assist which will make it a hard decision for Solskjaer. Harry Maguire was said to have had an injury but turns out it was more precautionary than anything else.
Bruno Fernandes played 65 mins on Thursday and must be given a rest after derby game so I hope he doesn't travel to Austria in the coming week.

Predicted Lineup - De Gea; Wan Bissaka, Maguire (c), Lindelof, Williams; McTominay, Fred, Matic, Fernandes; Martial, Greenwood.

Predicted Scoreline - 3-2 to United
