Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United Preview

Manchester United marched on into the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday with a 2-1 extra time win over Norwich, in a game where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 8 changes to the team, resulting in a performance not at their fluid best. However, what it did do, is increase United’s unbeaten run to 14 games, the longest that Ole has had during his time at Old Trafford. Next up comes Brighton & Hove Albion, as United look to continue their chase for a top-4 spot and secure Champions League football for next season. Here's all you need to know:

Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba- Manchester United’s Renaissance Men

Bruno Fernandes has breathed fresh life in this Manchester United squad. Bruno Fernandes arrived at Manchester United during the January transfer window and made an instant impact. The creative player has made his presence felt and numbers suggest he is set to be highly effective. Fernandes has brought a sense of aura and his team-mates are in awe of him.
A partnership between the world-class midfielders has been pulled into focus since last 3 weeks because very rarely you can come across such combinations of 2 World class central midfielders. Paul Pogba can be termed virus or whatever for his influence in the team but someone has to be really foolish to say he isn’t a world class midfielder. On his day, Paul Pogba can make most defences look like a joke and that’s exactly what he has been doing since he has returned for Manchester United in Project Restart.
Statistically analyzing impact of Bruno Fernandes for Manchester United Manchester United haven't lost a match since Bruno Fer…

Chelsea vs Manchester United: A tactical analysis of the FA Cup semi-final draw

Will United be able to go 4 for 4 against Chelsea or will they finally get one over us in the FA cup semi-final?
Manchester United have been drawn to face Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with Arsenal playing holders Manchester City. While it seems that City have been given an easier run again as compared to the rest of the semifinalists, the main focus for every United fan will be if we can make it all the way to the final.
With Chelsea having confirmed the signings of Werner of Ziyech over the recent months, and with rumors flying around that they could possibly at David Alaba, Chelsea will be a force to reckon with in the coming season. But now they have proved that they are not to be trifled with. In less than the span of seven days, they were able to beat Manchester City and Leicester City. This will be a highly contested game, even though we have given them three defeats this season. Their biggest goal threats will most likely come from Abrahams and Pulisic. The former…

Swagger And Flair – The Dawn Of A New Era At Manchester United

All the talks and anticipations for the last three months amongst the Manchester United supporters certainly revolved around two of their midfielders in Paul Labile Pogba and Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes. The Frenchman who re-signed for the club in the summer of 2016 has had a mixed stint with the red devils and has been sidelined for most parts of the ongoing season due to injury. As good as a player he is, Pogba has been fairly inconsistent with his performances drawing many critics questioning his attitude and commitment to the club. However, Bruno Fernandes has had an excellent start to his life in Manchester mustering up 4 goals and 4 assists in a relatively short space of time. He had a major impact on a struggling United which lacked any creativity in the midfield with Pogba being out injured. The performances of the Portuguese certainly had got many excited about a possible midfield partnership between the two, the first glimpse of which came at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

5 Talking points from Yesterday's tie at Carrow Road

For a historic 30th time Manchester United has catapulted themselves into the last 4 of the competition with a deserved victory over The Canaries. Let's get into the talking points, shall we?

1. Squad Rotation
Ole's decision to make 8 changes to the starting XI against Sheffield United and field a side with much less rhythm and composure has not gone well with all the fans who watched yesterday's tense match. But what needs to be said is that the boys grinded a good result to take home and we scrapped through with no casualities. It is a no-brainer to understand that Ole can't field his strongest XI for every single game with 3-4 matches to be played every 12 days. If not Norwich that too in an FA Cup tie, then against whom is squad rotation even possible? Believe it or not, this was the least important/ easiest of our fixture list considering that we need to win every single one of the league matches for a top 4 finish. And arguably the decision has paid off. All th…

Should Ole Give Bruno Fernandes A Rest?

There is no doubting that Bruno Fernandes has had a huge impact on Manchester United since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January, he has almost single-handedly turned our fortunes around. In fact, since he arrived, the team has managed to go on their longest unbeaten run of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign, the win against Norwich making it 8 wins and 4 draws.
However, since the restart of football following the Coronavirus break, Bruno has started all 3 games, playing a total of 290 minutes in 8 days.
In the build up to the game against Sheffield United, it was predicted by The United Devils that he might get a rest for the game, seeing as he had played the full 90 just days before without a pre-season. However, he started the match and was only subbed 10 minutes before the end, with Ole clearly believing he is one of the men in our starting XI who can make the most impact when on the pitch.
Following that, after the Gaffer made 8 changes to the team, Bruno’s name was still on th…

Norwich City vs Manchester United Player Ratings

Manchester United made it into the semi-finals of the FA Cup after beating Norwich City in extra time thanks to a late strike from our captain Harry Maguire. It had not been the best performance from United as they struggled against a side who currently sits bottom of the Premier League. They lacked energy and were playing at a much slower pace, not passing more quickly and taking one too many touches trying to put the ball into the box.
The first half saw both sides spurn half chances. Though United dominated the first 45 minutes with lots of possession but without creating anything clear cut at goal. Odion Ighalo sparked United into life in an otherwise dreary encounter when he scored past Norwich’s Tim Krul on 51 minutes. Norwich scored the equaliser from their first shot on target when Todd Cantwell’s precision strike went past Sergio Romero’s and into the goal on 75 minutes. Norwich were reduced down to 10 men when Timm Klose was sent off after grappling Ighalo to the ground after…

Norwich City vs Manchester United Match Analysis

After a point of time it was painful for Manchester United supporters to watch how their team played against Norwich city. Surely, it was the game of the season for Norwich City with relegation almost certain in the Premier League and they played like that. While Manchester United clearly lacked depth and quality in the line up which started.

Odion Ighalo and Todd Cantwell scored for both Manchester United and Norwich City respectively but it was Harry Maguire’s goal right at the end of extra time which helped Manchester United extend their unbeaten run to 14 games.

The first half was one of few chances, with neither side recording a single shot on target showcasing conservative approach. Harry Maguire made a solid block to deny Lukas Rupp, while Odion Ighalo could not get a shot on goal against a stubborn Norwich defence who closed down all spaces for Manchester United's attack. Juan Mata deflected Luke Shaw's left-wing cross into his half and Ighalo's hooked volley beat …

What's the future for Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United?

have been speculations Manchester United don’t want to extend Alexis Sanchez’s loan deal at Inter Milan. United are unwilling to extend the player’s loan, as they don’t want to strengthen a direct opponent in the Europa League. Inter Milan were due to play their R16 Europa league game against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perèz stadium in Spain before the league was suspended due to the novel Coronavirus. Alexis Sanchez who joined Manchester United in the summer of 2018, from Arsenal FC. The Chilean was Arsenal’s talisman having scored 80 and set up 45 goals in 166 matches. He was branded the famous No. 7 shirt for the Red Devils but has failed to make an impact at Manchester United due to injury crisis.

Having scored just 5 goals in 45 appearance for Manchester United before he was loaned out to Inter Milan. Alexis, who has been a different player for Inter Milan after the pandemic and Inter want to extend his loan till the end of the season. Speculations on the news were that Man…

Norwich vs Manchester United Preview

Manchester United continued their unbeaten run with an emphatic victory against Sheffield United at Old Trafford through Martial's first career hattrick. United will now look to extend their run to 14 unbeaten matches as they travel to Carrow Road for the FA Cup Quarter Final. 5 Things We’ve Learned from United’s win over Sheffield United

1. Anthony Martial has the X-factor we need
Martial picked up a true striker’s hat trick, firing three goals past Sheffield United’s keeper Simon Moore.  United has at times had trouble scoring goals and this is mainly due in my opinion, to the lack of a goal-poaching striker on the roster.  Martial was deployed in the target striker role and played with a level of confidence I haven’t seen in him in a United shirt.  Ole Gunnar Solskjær has talked about Martial scoring from “inside the 6-yard box”, and that’s exactly what Martial did on the day.  If Martial can grab hold of the striker’s role and play this confidently in the box, United may have solved its striker problem.  Martial produced two first time finishes, resisting the urge to over-handle the ball on his first two goals.  His third goal was a calm chip over the keeper at a time where a chip was the necessary shot to produce a goal.
2. Sheffield United Needs to Find a Way to Keep Dean Henderson
With Henderson unavailable due …

Manchester United vs. Sheffield United Player Ratings

It was a good day for Manchester United as they won 3-0 against Sheffield United courtesy of the Anthony Martial's first hat-trick in United colours. But it wasn't just the Martial who was on fire, whole team put an excellent performance to narrow the gap for Champions League spot, and here I'm going to rate each individual's performance -
David De Gea: 6.5/10 It was a pleasant evening for the Spanish as he was barely troubled by the attacking unit of Blades. Made no mistakes, was good at positioning, and distributed the ball efficiently to set up a United attack. A clean sheet today should boost his confidence and help him in regaining the form we've all been waiting for. Aaron Wan Bissaka: 8/10 The Spider was in a great form today, and even assisted Martial's second goal through a gorgeous low driven cross after beating Blades' left-back through a clean dribble. Also cleared out a dangerous cross fantastically and kept his flank barricaded throughout the…

Manchester United vs Sheffield United Match Analysis

Image from soccer

Today Manchester United returned to Old Trafford for the first time since football returned. Their opponents were Sheffield United, who before the break were defying expectations and currently sit in sixth place only two points behind The Reds. However The Blades have struggled in their first two games since resuming the season only picking up a solitary point against a relegation threatened Aston Villa side.  On the other hand United were hoping to build on their encouraging second half performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the 1-1 draw last Friday evening.
The game today was played in very warm conditions, with temperatures predicted to reach up to 32 degrees, conditions that would have been challenging for all the players involved as they look to find their match fitness and rhythm. It was vital for United to try and take all three points if they are to maintain realistic hopes of finishing in the top four and United's hopes of a win were boo…
