Buying this 22 year old might be the smartest transfer move for Manchester United

Image
It has been quite a decent season for LOSC Lille as they finished 4th in Ligue 1 and have qualified for European football. This might not seem very interesting until one realises the fact that Lille finished 4th after scoring just 35 goals in 28 matches, lowest of any team in top 4!

So, what is it that kept them in the contention for European glory? It's their defensive record. They have conceded just 27 goals throughout the league campaign (reduced to 28 matches this time) and emerged as a defensive powerhouse in France, thanks to their star youngster Gabriel. The young Brazilian has taken the limelight after an excellent season, and expects to move this transfer window. So, who is he and what makes him special? Let's get to it straight away -

Manchester United's Centre back Issue.

Image
Four days into the summer transfer window and it seems like Manchester United's brand name is being dragged into speculations surrounding every single player imaginable.
The fact that the Red Devils, under the stewardship of Ole Gunnar Solskjær has ended the season at a respectable third, has and will add fuel to the fire in relation to these numerous rumours and speculations. The priority target for this window, unanimously agreed, fans and club officials alike, is a right-winger probably in the form of Jadon Sancho. But questions need to be asked if that acquisition alone might be enough going into a new season. Do we have other areas of the squad which need to be strengthened urgently?
The one that stands out is the defence. The first thing that Solskjær did on assuming reigns as the permanent manager of Manchester United is to strengthen the defence with the high profile signings of Aaron Wan Bissaka and Harry Maguire. And Ole is getting the dividends now. From conceding more …

Jadon Sancho To Manchester United Transfer Update

Image
Jadon Sancho moving back to the Premier League with Manchester United is swiftly becoming the transfer saga of 2020. With the current year being so tough on everyone, this is one transfer sure to put a smile on the face of Manchester United fans. So, The United Devils has prepared the following summary of how this transfer has progressed over the past couple of weeks:
Manchester United will not get “cut price deal” for Sancho – 17th July At the beginning of the CoVid-19 crisis, businesses in every walk of line took a hit, leading to rumours that clubs would start making transfers for lower sums of money. On 17th July, BBC Sport released an item claiming that Borussia Dortmund were staunch in their valuation of Jadon Sancho and unwilling to move their estimates, regardless of the financial situation.
Man Utd 'in advanced talks' with Jadon Sancho – 21st July This was the big headline to hit the news sphere last week, with United facing off against Leicester City on the Sunday kno…

Premier League Season Ratings

Image
The season has had its twists and turns all the way from the beginning to the end of the season. Some sides have shone all season, some have had moments of brilliant be it at the beginning or at the end of the season and some have, of course, been dismal all season. This is something that Sky Sports have done and I think that Charlie Nicholas, who has been doing the Premier League predictions for the majority of the season, has been overly unfair to some clubs and far too generous on others, so I am trying to make amends for this poor piece of punditry. This is my take on how each club has fared over the Premier League season as a whole. Liverpool 10/10I will blow my own trumpet in predicting them to be champions before the season began and what a season it has been for Liverpool in the Premier League. When teams have been inconsistent, they have outshone everyone in the league this season and the clear and deserved champions of England, as much as it pains me to say. I think they nee…

Jack Grealish To Manchester United Transfer Update

Image
With the season done and United miraculously sitting in third position, the only things to look forward to are the transfer buzz and our upcoming Europa league campaign. With United looking to seal the deal on Sancho and reports circulating that they have upped their transfer fee for Sancho, what has happened with Grealish to United rumors?
Manchester United certainly need to improve their squad depth as the current squad is not good enough to allow for United to compete on all fronts. There have been numerous times this season where Solskjaer has needed to make substitutions to rest key players, but the lack of quality on the bench has been a massive issue. Jack Grealish would, without a doubt, improve our options going forwards and would be a brilliant backup player for Bruno Fernandes. An interesting stat is that Jack Grealish is the most fouled player in the Premier League this season, and has broken the record for being the most fouled player in any Premier League season.
At the…

Fabien Barthez: How the floodlights faded

Image
Fabien Barthez, a goalkeeper who divided opinions whilst at Manchester United.  Image taken from: The Daily Express.

After finding his way through a tricky first 6 years as Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson became the master of rebuilding his squads. These transitions were fluid and were what gave United the ability and impetus to be perennial challengers for the Premier League title.
Despite this, you could argue that Manchester United’s most successful manager was not the best judge of goalkeepers. That period between Peter Schmeichel leaving (1999) and Edwin Van Der Sar signing for the club (2005), was probably as challenging as it got for Ferguson. Trying to find a suitable replacement for the “Great Dane” became a well-precedented problem for the United boss. He went through no less than ten keepers before signing Van Der Sar from Fulham, the keeper he tried to sign from Ajax when Schmeichel left after the treble-winning season. The ten keepers in chronological order wer…

Who is Marc Jurado? the Barca kid set to sign for Manchester United

Image
Manchester Utd are set to confirm the triple signing of Marc Jurado, Alvaro Fernandez and Isak Hansen-Aaroen when they receive international clearance. Of these three signings, fans are excited about Jurado. The 16-year-old right-back is considered one of the best current talents in Barcelona’s famed development system.

So, who is this ‘Wonder kid’?Born in April 2004, Jurado started his football career at Can Rull in Catalonia before joining Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy at the age of seven. He hit the headlines in 2013 after scoring for Barcelona’s Under-10s within five seconds of kick-off in a game against Viladecans, which is the fastest goal ever recorded at youth level till date.  Here is the video of it  He was also part of the team that beat Real Madrid in the Under-12s Mediterranean International Cup in 2016, scoring the opening goal in the final. He has been playing for the club’s Under-16 side this season and was due to be promoted to the Under-17s for the 2020-21 campa…

Premier League Grades: Matchday 38

Image
Well, what a dramatic end to another fantastic season in the Premier League! Manchester United and Chelsea made it into the Top Four on the final day after winning 2-0 against Leicester and Wolves respectively and both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Frank Lampard should be applauded equally for their efforts in dragging their sides over the line as both teams are in desperate need of a rebuild. Leicester missed out on the Champions League after their injury-hit squad failed to win against either Spurs or United in the last two matches and sunk to fifth and Spurs managed to sneak past Wolves with a point at Selhurst Park and Jose will want to win the Europa League next season as his team need to be competing for more. Wolves will be disappointed to slip into seventh but know they still have a chance of Europa League qualification if Chelsea beat Arsenal in the FA Cup Final. Villa stayed up against the odds! What the lockdown did for them was just enough as they got a crucial point on the las…
