Manchester United have just beaten Fulham at Old Trafford to move to sixth place in the Premier League table. The Red Devils were rampant in their approach and won the game 4-1. A very surprising event for the United faithful after tons and tons of frustrating performances. This game gives us a renewed confidence, hope, and some positives in an otherwise drab season.

However, I can say with some assurance that no one is getting carried away by this victory. We felt like this after matches against Newcastle, Juventus, and Chelsea, but we never really followed up on those victories. We drew at home to Palace, away to Southampton, and again at home to Arsenal in the last three games. For a team of our stature, that is simply not good enough. Coming up against the worst team in the league in Fulham, is giving us a boost ahead of the trip to Anfield next week.

Coming to the game, Jose Mourinho started with a centre back pairing of Smalling and Jones. Smalling had to be substituted in the second half due to what seemed like an injury. Dalot started as right back and turned in an amazing performance. The lad can cross, dribble past a man, find a man in the box, and can tackle well. He was a man of the match contender and it seems like a breath of fresh air after years of staleness with Valencia. Dalot is far from a finished product but with regular starts like this, we are looking at a long term right back at the club. In midfield, Pogba was dropped for Herrera and Mata partnering him. The Spanish duo were amazing as well. Herrera winning every tackle and working his socks off. He did concede a penalty from which they scored but you could argue that that was a last resort for him. Mata sparkled in midfield and bagged a goal and an assist that put the game beyond Fulham in the first half itself.

Upfront, Lukaku started with Rashford and Lingard on either side. Rashford put in a stellar performance getting 2 assists and a spectacular goal. He is answering all his critics who have been on his back over the last few weeks. And the breaking news is, Lukaku finally broke his Old Trafford goal drought of over 17 hours today. That makes it two goals in three games for the Belgian. He could've had one more I feel but for now, the one goal will do.

What next for United?

Now we move on to the Champions League where we face Valencia away in our last group game. Though qualification has been secured, I really want us to win that game. There is a slight chance that Juve will slip up and we could finish first in the group. However we still need to keep players fit for the Liverpool game. Liverpool play a must win game against Napoli at home so hopefully they'll be worn out from that.

With the form that Liverpool are in, I do not have too many hopes from this game but we're a club that was built on never giving up. After the Liverpool game we have a string of relatively easier fixtures. But for now, we can only hope that Everton don't get a result against Watford!
