Nine Possible Outcomes for Top 4 in the Premier League

The midweek results mean we could be in store for a thrilling and dramatic end to the top-four finish. Manchester United drew at home to West Ham, while Chelsea were beaten 5-3 by Liverpool. The only happy team following the mid-week fixtures is Leicester City who now has a chance to set their second half of the season in order. The fifth-placed Foxes must beat United at Old Trafford to finish in the top four, whereas Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will book their place in Europe's top competition with a draw. Also, if Chelsea lose, United are assured a top-four finish and Leicester will join them if they manage to draw with Manchester United.
We look at 9 Possible outcomes that can decide the fate of the top 4.

If Chelsea & Leicester win (meaning United lose), then the table will look as follows:

3. Chelsea 66
4. Leicester 65
5. United 63
United need a draw in the worst possible scenario and if they don’t pick up any points then they won’t qualify for Champions League. So, it is as simple as “win or draw” and nothing below that. 

If Chelsea win & United and Leicester draw, then the table will look as follows:

3. Chelsea 66
4. United 64
5. Leicester 63
Both Chelsea and United will qualify and the one-time Premier League champions will not make the cut by just a single point. Would be hard on them but they haven’t been consistent at all since the Project restart.

If Chelsea & United win (meaning Leicester lose), then the table will look as follows:

3. United 66
4. Chelsea 66
5. Leicester 62
Would be a moral victory for United fans after such a stop-gap season where they were 7th at one point, and now finishing just behind Liverpool and City. It would be a great season for the Red Devils. On the other hand, where Frank Lampard has been lauded for handling Chelsea’s transfer ban and lack of signings, it will be a perfect way to establish more trust amongst the loyal Chelsea fans. While Brendan Rodgers may yet again get the tag of “bottler” after his Liverpool Heroics.

If Leicester win (meaning United lose) & Chelsea draw, then the table looks as follows:

4. Chelsea 64
5. United 63
Not an unlikely scenario considering United’s ability to squander chances and Wolves playing an attractive brand of football but Chelsea and United will go into the last game with a bit of added pressure and can very well play into the hands of their opponents.

5. Leicester 63

The premier league this year has been nothing short of insane and statistical battles. Liverpool won the league with 7 games to spare while the restart after a 3-month hiatus has changed the mid-table standings and the relegation zone battle, barring Norwich. The last day of the Premier League will be a crazy day for the top 4 finish as well as for the relegation-threatened clubs.

It’s as simple as this:
Leicester and United meet in a decisive showdown at the King Power Stadium, which means if either of those teams win, they are guaranteed to return to Europe’s elite club competition.
